都靈國際出版社，特別為鮑思高神父誕生二百周年，出版一本名為《鮑思高神父的聖堂》書籍，以表對他的敬意。書中以文字及圖片，展示了三所鮑思高神父興建的聖堂，並記載了本世紀首十年間進行的復修工作。
該書特別集中講述近年都靈聖母進教之佑大殿及聖史若望堂，以及羅馬聖心大殿的復修工作。這三座建築物均屬同一文化時期，並同屬博採眾長的風格，結構安穩、宏偉壯麗，標誌著天主及其教會的偉大。
書中描述了聖堂的建築技術及已進行的復修工作，並準確講述了建築物的歷史。書中亦對這些聖堂在落成年代的價值進行反思。這三座聖堂所在之處，無論在物質或是歷史角度而言，都位於有問題的社區和城市中的邊緣地帶。鮑思高神父得悉這些地區沒有朝拜天主之所後，渴望把他和慈幼會士的事業帶到那裡，縱使遇上財政困難也在所不計。
本書內容由不同作者寫成，並由保育建築師Federica Badino及建築師Stefano Trucco編輯，於去年年底出版。
Don Bosco’s Churches
(ANS - Italy –Turin, 02 January 2015) – As a tribute to Don Bosco, in this bicentenary year, the International Publishing Company SEI of Turin has published a book entitledDon Bosco’s Churches. It presents, in words and images, three churches built by Don Bosco, and it documents the restoration that took place in the first decade of the present century.
The book focuses in particular on the restoration done in recent years on the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians and the church of San Giovanni Evangelista in Turin, and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Rome. These are three buildings that belong to the same cultural period and are of the same eclectic style, reassuring in form and of impressive size, symbolizing the greatness of God and of the church.
The book describes the technical architecture of the buildings and the renovations that have taken place and gives an accurate history of the work. It also reflects on the value these churches had at the time they were built. All three are located in problematic neighbourhoods, on the physical and historical margins of cities in growth. It was an eagerness to get to know these areas that did not have places of worship that pushed Don Bosco and his Salesians to move in that direction, even though it involved financial risk.
Written by different authors, the book is edited by Federica Badino (a conservation architect) and Stefano Trucco (architect). It went to press at the end of last year.
