在鮑思高神父誕生二百周年之際，教宗方濟各向總會長范達民神父致函，感謝天主賜予這位青年人的聖者，信中「重申鮑思高神父神修牧民遺產的基本要素，並催促我們以勇氣活出這些要素。」
鑑於教宗這封信函的重要性，范達民神父向慈幼大家庭發放了簡短的評論影片。
教宗信函標示於6月24日發出（這天為聖若翰洗者誕辰瞻禮，亦為鮑思高本名瞻禮日，富有象徵意義）。信函全文可於 sdb.org 瀏覽。
"Like Don Bosco, with the young and for the young": the letter of Pope Francis for the Bicentenary
(ANS - Vatican –Vatican City, 16 July 2015) – On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco, Pope Francis has sent the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, a letter im which he thanks God for the gift of the Saint of Youth, "recalls the essential aspects of the spiritual and pastoral heritage of Don Bosco and urges us to live them with courage."
Given the importance of the letter from the Pope, Fr Á.F. Artime has issued a short video message for the Salesian Family by way of comment.
