“Seeking”- Form Five and Form Seven Faith Camp took place in
Salesian Retreat House, Cheung Chau Island, Hong Kong, 6-10 June
2007. Participants were Form Five and Form Seven students from
various Salesian Schools. They had invited some past pupils to take
part in their activities, support them and share with them past
experiences. “Seeking” was the theme of the camp, the purpose was
through the participation of activities, they would understand the
importance of setting goals and making life decision. In reflecting
their own growth process, they would come to realize that God has
arranged family members, teachers, and friends to walk with them, to
be with them. In fact, it was God who first sought them.
In
the activities, participants rediscovered their own talents and
limitations through 5 aspects: the Physical Self, Academic Self,
Social Self, Moral Self and Family Self; they would also understand
that there existed inseparable links between persons, and from this,
they would reflect the relationship between life and God.
Participants learned about team-building through some strenuous
group activities. Group members generously shared their life
stories, through both laughter and tears they nurtured their
friendships. Through letter-writing and confession, they reconciled
with their family, friends and God. On the last day, they learned to
set their goals, understanding the importance of persevering in
one's ideal. In the “Most Challenging task”, all group members
joined together to support every individual to reach his/ her idea,
thus pushing the activities to its climax.
In
their daily Mass and Night prayers, the priest reminded all in his
sermon, that no matter what road was in front of a Salesian youth,
the most important thing was to accept God's grace courageously,
imitating St. Versiglia and St. Caravario, the saints of the
Salesian Family, trusting Our Lady, and responding to God's calling
with their lives. |
