【慈幼通訊社 ─ 2010年4月15日海地太子港訊】─ 海地大地震後，慈幼會士繼續傾盡全力，處理救急及重建事宜。三月二十七日，傳教辦事處及非政府組織在羅馬舉行會議，確立對「李納德基金」作出支援，而四月十至十三日在太子港舉行的會議，則取得了一些進展。

與會人士包括海地准會省長上 Ducange Sylvain 神父及總會長代表、總部培育議員 Francesco Cereda 神父。四月十一日，他們到訪各個受一月十二日地震影響的中心。

四月十二日星期一，Sylvain 神父在會上重申：「海地必要重生！」，並向與會者說：「你們是這項偉大事業的主角及協作者。」

來自美國東部 New Rochelle 會省傳教辦事處的 Mark Hyde 神父，已在海地工作了三個月，他亦有參與會議。海地民族學系主任 Paul Antoine 博士，叙述了地震後國內目前的情況，並談及有關社會及歷史展望事宜。

前任准會省長上暨李納德基金主席 Jacques Charles 神父，闡述了基金的本質、目的、需要及局限性，同時請求非政府組織及傳教辦事處提供援助。接著Sylvain神父簡述了慈幼會士在海地服務的歷史。

下午，與會團體偕同海地慈幼各會院的院長，以及服務邊緣人士、職業訓練、教育及青少年中心等不同牧民工作範疇部門的代表，一同參與聚會。

非政府組織及傳教辦事處，明確表示會對李納德基金提供支援，並派出合資格人士，協助實地的工作。首階段已計劃在加萊瑟爾籌建一個宿舍及數個禮堂，以及協助培訓老師。

出席海地會議的還包括來自波恩 Jugend Dritte Welt (JWD)、馬德里 Jóvenes y Desarroll (JyD)、奧地利 Jugend Eine Welt、布魯塞爾 DMOS-COMIDE、慈幼國際義工關注發展組織  “Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo” (VIS)、瑞士 "JUHILA”、加拿大 Builders without borders 的代表，以及來自安地列斯會省的慈幼會士。

Protagonists and collaborators in the re-birth

(ANS – Haiti –Port-au-Prince , 15 April 2010 ) – The efforts of the Salesians in dealing with the emergency and the reconstruction of Haiti after the earthquake continue. Further progress was made at a meeting between 10 and 13 April of Missionary Offices and NGO at Port-au-Prince as a follow up to the meeting in Rome on 27 March where support for the “Rinaldi Foundation” was confirmed.

Among those present were Fr Ducange Sylvain, Superior of the Vice Province of Haiti, and Fr Francesco Cereda, Councillor for Formation in the name of the Rector Major. On 11 April they visited the centres affected by the earthquake of 12 January.

On Monday 12 Fr Sylvain opened proceedings declaring once again “Haiti must rise again!” and addressing those present said: “You are the protagonists and the collaborators in this great enterprise!”

Fr Mark Hyde, from the New Rochelle Mission Office, who has been working in Haiti for three months, presented the aims of the meetings. The Principal of the Faculty of Ethnology in Haiti, Dr. Paul Antoine, described the current situation in the country after the earthquake and spoke about the social and historical prospects.

Fr Jacques Charles, former Superior of the Vice Province and the Director of the Rinaldi Foundation, presented the identity, the purpose , the needs and also the limitations of the Foundation, and at the same time the commitment requested from the NGO and the Mission Offices. Fr Sylvain then gave a brief historical account of the presence of the Salesians in Haiti.

In the afternoon the group were joined by the Rectors of the Salesian houses in Haiti and representatives of the sectors for pastoral work with the marginalised, vocational training, education and youth centres.

The NGOs and the Mission Offices confirmed their commitment to providing support and also the collaboration of qualified personnel for the “Rinaldi Foundation” in its work on the ground. The first stages were mapped out for the building of some halls and a dormitory at Gressier and for the training of teachers.

Present at the meeting in Port-au-Prince were representatives of “Jugend Dritte Welt” from Bonn (JWD), “Jóvenes y Desarrollo” from Madrid (JyD), “Jugend Eine Welt”  from Austria, “DMOS-COMIDE” from Bruxelles, “Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo” (VIS), "JUHILA” from Switzerland, "Builders without borders” from Canada and some Salesians from the Antilles Provice.
