The box already being distributed to the houses of the Salesians and of the FMA, contains two videos: one with the presentation of the subject of the Strenna and another a documentary which describes the places in which Don Bosco lived providing an historical and spiritual itinerary. Coming to know and imitate Don Bosco, passion for the young As in recent years, the first is an introduction to the Rector Major’s Strenna for 2012 which is a real help in reading and studying the text of Fr Chávez. Starting from a reference to the birth of Don Bosco, the film traces the contents of the commentary on the Strenna explaining the reasons behind the need for a renewed historical knowledge of Don Bosco, the type of history needed for our world of today, the progress made by the writers of Salesian history, the experience and the choices made by Don Bosco and, finally, some practical suggestions which Fr Chávez offers to the Salesian Family to put the Strenna into practice. Over two months work were devoted to the preproduction, production and post production phases, and the involvement of various interested parties such as Missioni Don Bosco, Accademia dello Spettacolo, L’Alfa e L’Omega de Joanne Bosco, the drama group of the Salesian Institute in Caserta, as well as a number of people who made themselves available for the filming of entire scene needed for the presentation of the subject. The graphics were inspired by the official poster for the 2012 Strenna. The video is available for viewing and downloading in the video section of the ANS site. With Don Bosco in his homeland and among hs own people The second video is a totally new edition of a documentary produced by the Regional Centre for Ongoing Formation in Quito some years ago. The quality of the contents – in reference to the first year of preparation for the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco – and of the image suggested that it be re-produced. This authentic itinerary guides the viewer towards a knowledge of Don Bosco’s land and people. It’s a lesson that leads to the discovery of some of the cultural, social, and clerical facets of the late 1800s, so as to give us a better portrait of the character of the saint of Turin and of his work. The Quito Centre for Formation had the idea of making this video in order to provide an introduction for the religious and lay people of the Salesian Family to a visit to the places associated with the life and work of Don Bosco. It is, in fact, a very useful teaching aid. The two videos are available in seven languages: Italian, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Polish and German. The way the menu is organised and the subdivision of the chapters ensures that the DVD can be used as a means for work with groups. The collaboration of the Community of Cançao Nova in Rome, of the Audiovisual Centre in Quito and the Salesians in Krakow should be mentioned for some of the language versions. |
