PE: young people in France (ANS - RMG – Rome, 3 April 2012) – The assessment and analysis of the European youth situation which thanks to the collaboration of Salesians and experts on the field ANS is offering its readers continues. This time it concerns the young people of France. French youth is not in a crisis situation, but one of change. To really understand this and its implications is one of the first steps to be taken in order to respond in new ways to the needs of the young. Today therefore, 3 April, we are publishing in the “Service” section of ANS a contribution by Fr Jean-Marie Petitclerc, a Salesian who for years has been engaged with problem youngsters in the a “banlieue”. It is a reflection which offers some ideas to understand better today’s young people their social setting and their way of relating to the adult world. In addition, among the news items is an account of a Salesian mission in a school in France: a good example of how today’s heirs of the charism of Don Bosco, working together in unity and without compromises but in attractive ways, presenting the Gospel message, still succeed in reaching the hearts of the young. |
