陳日君樞機被邀於2015年1月11日舉行的總會長贈言研討會任主講嘉賓，作為今年慈幼大家庭神修日的主要項目。
陳樞機把贈言總結成六個要點：一，與青年一起，並與他們保持對話；二，讓他們知道我們愛他們；三，尤其要關愛最貧窮和處於社會邊緣的青年；四，天主願意青年在我們身上，找到榜樣及楷模，而他們覺得我們是可靠的人；五，與青年同行，但不要把他們背在我們的肩膀上，卻要灌輸給他們耶穌及福音的價值，使他們圓滿地發展潛能；六，青年是天主賜給我們的禮物，他們幫助我們了解福音，並植根於福音，他們教導我們並拯救我們。
研討會約有120人參與，他們一起討論如何把贈言在日常生活中實踐出來。有參與者分享時表示，我們要以正面的態度，面對一些負面的事物。這有助解決很多家庭問題，而我們可從自己的家庭及團體開始。一名參與者放棄工作，全心照顧孫女。照顧孫女與與當年她養育女兒很不同，確是很大的挑戰。我們可以說，這犧牲與麗達媽媽的很相似。一位來自澳門的教師表示，今天的青年與昔日的很不同，他們要求我們多些忍耐，使我們能接近及幫助他們。我們要接納他們，包容他們的生活方式，使我們能以真理和我們的價值觀及教導，影響他們。
神修日以修和聖事、朝拜聖體及晚禱結束。省會長斐林豐神父，憶述了鮑思高生前最後的一個贈言：「彼此相愛，愛聖體中的耶穌，並宣揚聖母進教之佑敬禮」。按省會長所說，在鮑思高誕生二百周年剛開始時，這將是強化我們神修的最好方法。
Salesian Family Spiritual Day in China Province
(ANS - China –Hong Kong, 15 January 2015) – China Province invited Cardinal Joseph Zen to guide the study of the Strenna of Rector Major on 11 January 2015.
Cardinal Zen summarized the Strenna in six points: 1. Be with the young and hold dialogue with them. 2. Let them know that they are loved. 3. For the young, especially the poorest and those on the mragins. 4. God wnats the young to find in us role-models and examples whom they feel reliable. 5. Make them feel accompanied, but do not carry them on our shoulders; give them Jesus and gospel values by which they can fully develop their potential. 6. The young are a gift for us from God, they help us to understand and to be rooted in the Gospel, they teach us and they save us.
Around 120 participants joined the discussion on how to implement and live the Strenna in our daily lives. One question shared was how do we face the negative elements in our lives positively. This can help resolve a lot of family problems, and we can start by doing this in the family or the community where we live. One participant gave up her job to take care of her grand-daughter. This was quite different from her way of raising up her daughter, it was indeed a very challenging task. We can say that this was the spirit of sacrifice similar to that of Mamma Margaret. A teacher from Macau said that today the young are different from before, they require us to be more patient, so that we can approach them and help them. We have to accept them and tolerate their style of living so that we can influence them with truth and our values and teaching.
This spiritual day finished with the sacrament of confession, Eucharistic adoration and night prayer. Fr. Lanfranco Fedrigotti, Provincial of China Province, recalled the last Strenna before Don Bosco’s death: “love each other, love Jesus in the Eucharist and promote the devotion to Mary Help of Christians”. According to Fr. Provincial, this would be the best way to strengthen our spirituality at the beginning of the Bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco.
