「飛越三十九」及「意大利婦女協會」，能把這套有關胡子義神父生活見證的紀錄片，呈獻於觀眾眼前，深感自豪。胡子義神父已達百歲高齡，現居本港，他因長期在澳門路環痲瘋村（胡神父接辦後改名為聖母村）服務，幫助不幸染病者，達四十八年之久，而被稱為「痲瘋病者之天使」。此外，他為澳門無依無靠的青年創立學校，並為青年、長者、輕度及嚴重殘障人士設立宿舍及院舍。在紀錄片中，胡子義神父談及了他的父母、他年幼時在西西里的生活、成為慈幼會士之路，以及他的福傳聖召及在澳門路環聖母村的工作。影片中載有西西里一九一零年代、香港一九三零年代，以及路環聖母村的照片，亦講述了胡子義神父在澳門實踐使命的情況。
影片花了兩年時間製作，並有賴各方的集資，從國際間各恩人及機構籌集所需的經費（恩人名錄於片尾列出）。
票價：港幣100 元正，現場備有小食提供。
所有收益將撥捐香港仔「安貧小姊妹聖瑪利安老院」(http://www.littlesistersofthepoor.org.hk)，為胡子義神父自2011年至今居住的地方。

Beyond Thirty-Nine and The Italian Women's Association are proud to present this documentary film, which bears witness to Father Gaetano Nicosia, one hundred years old, who lives now in Hong Kong and was called “the angel of the lepers” for his work in the leprosarium of Coloane, near Macau, where he helped those unfortunate sufferers. He spent forty-eight years with them. Moreover, he founded and made possible the construction of various schools for abandoned young people, dormitories, and institutes for the young and the elderly, the disabled and the severely handicapped.
In the documentary, Father Nicosia talks about his parents and his youth in Sicily, his journey to become a Salesian, then his missionary vocation and his work in Macau with the lepers. Images of Sicily in the 1910s and Hong Kong in 1930s, and of the Coloane leprosarium are shown, as well as of the realizations Father Nicosia made possible in Macau.
The production of this film took two years and was made possible thanks to a crowdfunding operation, which collected the necessary funds from a number of international friends and associations (listed in the closing credits of the documentary).
Entrance fee: HKD 100. All proceeds will go to ‘Little Sisters of The Poor – Saint Mary’s Home for the Aged’ (http://www.littlesistersofthepoor.org.hk), located in Aberdeen, where Father Nicosia lived from 2011 until recently.

胡子義神父紀錄片「痲瘋病者之天使」於9月15日，在香港慈幼團體作首次私人放映，當紀錄片放映完畢的一剎那，我和其他人都深受感動。我看到很多人都淚流滿眶。當然，我在影片製作及最後剪接過程中，已看過了無數次，然而兩年前首次與胡子義神父相遇時，他給我留下那深刻的印象，現今依舊十分清晰，令我感觸良多。因此，我願意與你們分享，「飛越三十九」在天時地利之下，製作了這輯紀錄片。我們有幸見證這個奇蹟，一位逾百歲的活聖人，他以無比的力量，以及一份美妙而難得的謙遜，向我們訴說他的故事。我們有幸把這個寂寂無聞、卻又持久而豐碩的基督福傳果實傳揚下去。我們看到他如何努力學習，在二十世紀初從西西里遠赴香港，之後前往澳門，以及之後他所作的一切。他在路環痲瘋病院服務達四十八年之久，救回數以百計的性命，而他亦同時在當地，為無依無靠的青年創立學校，並為青年、長者及嚴重殘障人士設立宿舍及學院。正如我所說的，這確實是奇蹟。
我們要為此作出一些貢獻，就是別讓這些事蹟湮沒人間，卻要承擔責任，把胡子義神父口述的記憶，轉化成一個正式的紀錄，流傳於世。因此，從一開始有這個概念，我們便視為當前急務，去製作一輯影片，作為飛越三十九製作的首輯影片，我們實有賴以下人士的長期協助，包括慈幼會士（尤其是全力支援我們的鮑思高慈幼會中華會省省會長斐林豐神父）、跨文化工作小組（Paola Caronni、Gianni Criveller、Juan José Morales及 Stacey Roda）、優秀的攝錄師（Fanzi Fan）、感人肺腑的旁述員（Tim O’Connel）、在研究、音樂、角色製作、電影剪輯及市場推廣方多面表現超凡的Fabrizio Bestoso，當然不少得兩位嚴謹的監製（飛越三十九創辦人Ciriaco Offeddu和 Angelo Paratico）。我們訂立了粗略的預算，並堅持製作團隊以義務人員為主，稍後又對外集資，差不多已從各方恩人及私人組織，籌集了足夠的經費（恩人名錄於片尾列出）。我們共籌集了3,150美元，而目前總開支為3,700美元。我們需要額外開支，去製作意大利語版本，當然也包括預告片及傳單等。當然，飛越三十九從一開始，便許下要承擔其他所需的費用。
我們製作這輯影片，一如我們的使命（對不起，只有下列的意大利文版本），是要飛越意大利文，向外地延伸。事實上，這工作小組是跨文化及國際性的，因此有很多來自不同國家的協助者。此外，不要忘記我們沒有任何來自意大利機構的支援。我說出這一點，並沒有挑撥的意味，而是因為胡子義神父這位「痲瘋病者之天使」並不隸屬於任何機構或組織，卻唯獨植根於基督聖言，也是這項計劃的基礎，對承擔這項挑戰的飛越三十九，或是對堅信我們理念的支持者而言，也是如此。
我建議你們先細閱我們的使命（這是我們於2012年展開這旅程以來，一直堅守的使命），然後才看看我最後的話。
Il titolo è importante. Perché rispecchia uno stato d’animo, un orientamento prima ancora di una strategia. Il titolo vuole dire: voglio andare oltre i confini e i limiti del nostro essere Italiani e, quindi, metaforicamente, del nostro prefisso nazionale, +39. In questa nuova impresa che stiamo coraggiosamente lanciando, e nei comportamenti di ogni giorno.
Non raccogliamo più gli inviti generici all’unità, allo stringiamoci a coorte, perché non ci riconosciamo più in un’Italia che è diventata solo qualcos’altro, uno strano essere che mangia se stessa vivendo alle spalle di un patrimonio secolare, e nutrendosi di sprechi e di mediocrità – punendo i deboli. Quando la presunta salvezza (di chi?) passa per lo stritolamento solo degli onesti, per lo schiacciamento dei deboli e per la distruzione del futuro dei nostri giovani, allora è il momento di smarcarsi, di prendere le distanze. A meno di diventare complici di un crimine storico, questa volta non imbevuto delle ideologie del novecento, ma della finanza predatoria.
Spiace dirlo? Non lo sappiamo. Parliamo duramente di un’altra Italia, di quella cui ci siamo ridotti, che spesso ci sconvolge e ci umilia, non della patria che ci rimane nel cuore. Siamo figli di altri principi e di altri sogni, di altri sacrifici e doveri. E sempre più sentiamo urgenti le radici Cristiane, la bellezza e la forza di sentimenti e richiami antichi, genuini, privi di orpelli: Ama il prossimo tuo, Non rubare…
Beyond Thirthy-Nine: questa società nasce da Italiani che non a caso non vivono più in Italia, ma cercano all’estero, in Asia, un sogno ancora possibile, uno scopo migliore. Che credono in prospettive positive, in un percorso che è di crescita personale e sociale prima che successo competitivo.
Vogliamo essere un ponte tra un’Italia pulita e netta e un mondo che ha bisogno di serietà, di competenza e di creatività, ma anche di gioia, di tranquillo ottimismo, di voglia di stare insieme e di fare. Vogliamo raccogliere e canalizzare idee e infine vogliamo pubblicarle, sì, perché l’arte è anche comunicazione. Ecco dunque il perché di una piattaforma indipendente e anomala, che prima di tutto vuole essere gathering place o assembly.
Vogliamo lasciarci alle spalle i saprofiti per guardare avanti, per spaccare qualche zolla e piantare qualche seme: è così che s’inizia. Con umiltà, sicuri che ci saranno errori e aggiustamenti, che cento volte ci correggeremo, che non ci fermeremo a metà strada.
La nostra è pertanto una società aperta e selettiva: cerchiamo tutti gli onesti “beyond thirthy-nine” che percorrono strade lontane senza perdersi d’animo, senza smarrire principi e visione. Cerchiamo voci e percorsi nuovi, con gusto, con allegria.
Perché uno spazio, una speranza c’è sempre.

father nicosiaWhen the last notes of the soundtrack of the documentary Father Nicosia, the Angel of the Lepers faded, at the end of the first private screening to the Salesian community in Hong Kong, on 15 September, I was moved – and not just me. I saw many people with their eyes wet. Of course, I had seen the film dozens of times during the development of the work and the rough and final cuts, yet the strong impression that just he, Father Nicosia, gave me from my first encounter with him two years ago still persisted, touching my soul. Thus, the first comment that I want to share with you is that Beyond Thirty-Nine is very privileged and very lucky too. We have had the opportunity to be the witnesses of a miracle, a living saint of one hundred years, who tells his story with an incredible human energy and a wonderful, rare humility. We have had the privilege to be the bearers of the account of an unknown, lasting and fruitful Christian missionary. We have seen how he studied and travelled from Sicily at the beginning of the twentieth century to Hong Kong and then to Macau, and all the things that Father Nicosia did. He worked for forty-eight years in the leprosarium of Coloane, saving hundreds of lives, but he also founded and made possible the construction of various schools for abandoned young people, dormitories, and institutes for the young and the elderly, the disabled and the severely handicapped, in Macau too. A real miracle, as I said.
Our merit has been not to let the events pass out of sight, but to think that it was our duty to transform Father Nicosia’s oral memories into a documentary that we hope will last for many many years. So, from just a first idea that was like an imperative for us, we moved to the production of a film, by the way the first film of Beyond Thirty-Nine, which required the continuous support of the Salesians (Father Lanfranco Fedrigotti, Provincial of the Salesian Don Bosco Order, was always on our side), a multicultural work team (Paola Caronni, Gianni Criveller, Juan José Morales and Stacey Roda), a good cameraman (Fanzi Fan), a passionate speaker (Tim O’Connel), a magician in terms of research, music, post production, film editing and marketing (Fabrizio Bestoso) and, of course, two hardened directors (Ciriaco Offeddu and Angelo Paratico, the founders of Beyond Thirty-Nine). We formulated a rough budget, very strict and mainly based on volunteering, and soon launched a crowdfunding operation, which collected almost all the funds necessary from a number of splendid friends and private associations (listed in the closing credits of the documentary). We collected US$ 3,150 whilst, at the moment, the total expenses are set at around US$. 3,700. Other expenses will be necessary to complete the Italian version too, the trailer, the flyers, etc. From the beginning, Beyond Thirty-Nine has undertaken to provide the rest of the necessary funds, of course.
Consistent with our mission (which you can read below – only in Italian, sorry), we produced this documentary by going beyond thirty-nine, which means that this work is not only ‘Italian’, but goes far beyond. The work team is, in fact, multicultural and international, and so are a number of the contributors from different countries. Moreover, we must not forget that we didn’t have any support or funds from Italian institutions. I underline this aspect not in provocative terms, but because Father Nicosia, the Angel of the Lepers doesn’t belong to any flag, event or body but to the Christian idea that is the basis of the project, to Beyond Thirty-Nine, which took up the challenge, and to its supporters, who believed in our ideals.
I would suggest now that you read our mission (it was our mission at the beginning of our adventure, in 2012, and it still is), before seeing my final considerations.

E sempre più sentiamo urgenti le radici Cristiane, la bellezza e la forza di sentimenti e richiami antichi, genuini, privi di orpelli: Ama il prossimo tuo, Non rubare…
